About:
Brwn Stock Imaging is a stock photo site with a commitment to providing images that specifically feature black and brown people. The website was created to fulfill a need for more inclusive representation of a broader community that isn’t shown by other popular stock websites. They have chosen to take on the challenge of providing images for content creators that truly captures the vibrancy of our community. “By showing the world through our lens, providing quality images of people who look like us, we are able to fulfill our mission of shifting the focus towards a more inclusive community.”
Problem/Challenge:
Brwn Stock Imaging approached us to design a stock photography website on the Squarespace platform. Squarespace’s native search capabilities did not have the functionality and design we were looking for but the client wanted to find a solution that would allow them to stay on the platform.
Project Goal:
Create a website that allows website visitors to easily search for and find the photos they need for their projects.
Usability Goal:
Improve discoverability, convey aesthetic, dynamic & minimal design, and highlight visuals while compelling users to purchase photos .
User goals:
User goals are to easily find photos for their needs.
Solutions
It was important to make it easy for users to find images that they need. Because Brwn Stock Imaging focuses on highlighting black and brown people, it was important to create the website that was centered around their mission.
We implemented a custom universal search filter on each photo page that allows users to search and filter photos by category, tag, search bar keyword and price.
Implemented a lazy load code that increases the number of images that can be shown within a summary block on Squarespace.
Created custom coding and icons that conveyed the brand’s aesthetic.
